North Central Health Care is pleased to announce that Mount View Care Center in Wausau has achieved a High Performance Skilled Nursing Facility rating from Security Health Plan. The rating is based on Mount View Care Center’s 2017 score from naviHealth, a software and analytics company that helps ensure patients receive the right level of care and therapy in the right setting for the right amount of time after being released from the hospital.

High Performance Skilled Nursing Facilities are recognized as providing Security Health Plan members with superior services, such as low hospital readmission rates, high star-ratings, shorter stays and associated lower costs, and successful achievement of goals set by providers and therapists. Mount View Care Center will be featured as a High Performance Skilled Nursing Facility in Security Health Plan’s upcoming Provider and Member newsletters and highlighted in its online Provider Directory.

In 2017, Mount View Care Center also lowered hospital readmission rates to 10.2% for the year, well below the national benchmark of 17.3% (American Health Care Association/National Center for Assistive Living Quality Initiative). Mount View Care Center has steadily decreased hospital readmission rates over the last several years, from 13.7% in 2015. On the latest State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services Survey, Mount View Care Center received no citations for quality and also improved staffing ratios and quality indicators leading to an improved overall Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services rating of 4-stars.

“Our teams at North Central Health Care and Mount View Care Center have been working very hard the last several years on improving our quality of care and staffing ratios, but also each resident and family’s overall experience. We have sharpened our focus on staff training and education while placing emphasis on the things that matter most to our residents and their families – a life that is enriched and fulfilled. We have seen our staff retention rates significantly increase over the last twelve months and entering 2018, over 80% of residents rate their experience at Mount View Care Center as “excellent”. We are confident that when we do the right things for the right reasons and position ourselves to provide the best care that we can, our residents will be able to lead the highest quality life possible. We are so very proud of our employees. This has been a team effort every step of the way and our staff have shown their tremendous heart, skill and dedication,” states Kim Gochanour, Nursing Home Administrator at Mount View Care Center.

North Central Health Care’s Mount View Care Center is located on the beautiful shores of Lake Wausau. The 200-bed nursing home provides skilled nursing care for post-acute, short-term rehabilitation, ventilator dependent, long-term and specialized dementia care to people of all ages. Mount View Care Center has been previously recognized with US News & World Report’s US Best Nursing Homes in 2012, 2013 and 2014, as well as Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Nursing Homes in 2013.
