Campers arriving at Easter Seals Wisconsin Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp will see fresh concrete pathways and slabs all throughout camp next summer, thanks to material donations made by County Materials Corporation. Shortly after the summer 2017 camping season came to an end, Easter Seals Wisconsin began much needed improvement projects.

Ready-mix supplied by County Materials went towards upgrades that greatly improves locations throughout the camp and increases accessibility for campers and staff. These projects included a concrete slab replacing an archery range’s aging asphalt, sidewalks throughout the camp, a fresh concrete slab in the dumpster area, and a new floor in the maintenance shed.

Camp Wawbeek provides a life-changing experience for children and adults with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities. Camp Wawbeek accommodates campers to help them participate in recreational activities such as swimming, outdoor games and zip lining, which many times they are unable to do outside of camp. The Respite Camp offers short-term and temporary care for children and adults with severe disabilities. Pathways that increase mobility and accessibility are vital parts of what makes the camp successful.

“Easter Seals Wisconsin is tremendously grateful for all that County Materials and the Sonnentag Foundation has contributed to our camps,” said Christine Fessler, President and CEO of the camp. County Materials and the Sonnentag Foundation have a strong history of making material and monetary donations for Easter Seals Wisconsin Camp improvements. Ready-mix is a lasting contribution that will benefit Easter Seals and make the camp a more enjoyable experience for the 10,000 children and adults who visit every year for a long time to come.
