Discuss tween book and compete in fun challenges at MCPL Wausau
Tweens are encouraged to visit the Marathon County Public Library to chat about our November book club pick before the movie adaptation hits theaters and participate in some fun competitive challenges afterward! MCPL will offer its next Chat & Challenge Book Club for tweens on November 16 from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at its Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Tweens will discuss the book “Wonder,” by R.J. Palacio. The book follows fifth-grader Auggie, who starts attending school after being homeschooled all his life. After having had 27 surgeries to correct facial abnormalities he was born with, Auggie’s face still elicits stares and cruel nicknames. At school, he experiences both relentless bullying and real kindness while his classmates and community learn a life-changing lesson in empathy.
After the book discussion, tweens can compete against one another in a variety of fun, interactive “Minute to Win It”-style challenges! Read the book and join us for this fun and interactive afternoon!
This event is free and open to all tweens with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7220 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/3357.
