Step into Spencer’s past with historical presentation on Aug. 1
Do you like reminiscing about favorite local establishments of years gone by? Or are you curious to find out what happened to certain saloons and other businesses that have since closed or moved? The Marathon County Public Library will offer its “Spencer’s Saloons and Businesses of the Past” presentation on August 1 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at its Spencer Branch, 105 S. Park St., Spencer.
Local historian Ronald Draeger will lead the presentation, which will explore local saloons and businesses from the Village of Spencer. Draeger will talk about what those establishments were like, how long they were in business, and why they closed or moved. The talk will cover a variety of businesses, including Walter’s Beer, now based in Eau Claire.
This event is free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, call 715-659-3996 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/?event_id=3491.
