If you enjoy nature and reading, you’re in luck! The Marathon County Public Library and the Monk Botanical Gardens have teamed up once again to offer the second annual StoryWalk® Weekend, happening July 15 and 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Monk Botanical Gardens, 1800 N. First Ave., Wausau!

During this special two-day event, families can walk along eight scenic trails at the beautiful Monk Botanical Gardens, with a different children’s story book offered on each trail. These books feature the themes of nature, animals, fitness and gardening, with a different activity offered at the end of each book trail, including family yoga, vegetable soup making, crafts and more! Featured activities will also be offered by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, The Grand Theater and the Marathon County Historical Society, as well as Katelyn Schmoll, the Wisconsin Valley Fair’s 2017 “Fairest of the Fair.” Pizza and beverages also available for purchase throughout the weekend.

StoryWalk® Weekend 2017 is made possible through generous sponsorships from the Marathon County Public Library, Monk Botanical Gardens, Community Soul Yoga, Marathon County Solid Waste, Master Gardeners of Marathon County, Slow Food Marathon County, Wausau Bird Club and Wausau Children’s Museum. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

This event is free and open to the public, with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7230 or visit www.mcpl.us/storywalk.
