Kids can stop by the Marathon County Public Library to “tinker” with some common household objects this summer. From June 1-30, MCPL’s Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee, will offer a Tinker Toy-inspired box of recyclable materials that will spark kids’ imaginations and allow them to build their own creations. The Marathon County Public Library will celebrate June Dairy Month with a visit from the newly-crowned Alice in Dairyland, Crystal Siemers-Peterman, on June 27 from 10-11 a.m. at its Spencer Branch, 105 S. Young’s best-selling novel The Shack on June 29 from 5:30-8 p.m. at its Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Kids who love Minecraft will want to visit the Marathon County Public Library in July to make a variety of 3D Minecraft objects. MCPL will offer its Minecraft-themed July Building Extravaganza from July 3-31 at its Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Throughout the month, kids will have the chance to make their own pixelated, Minecraft-themed creations using construction paper and printed pixelated strips. All supplies will be provided. The Good News Project will present the 2017 Community Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, July 22, from 1–4 p.m. Teams start at the Good News Project warehouse, 1106 Fifth St., then follow clues as they race around town collecting items, photos and points for a chance to win. Choose to compete in the “Team” division (age 16+) or in the “Family” division (adults with kids). Teams must have a Smartphone (or tablet, iPod, etc. with app capabilities), Facebook access, and a vehicle to participate. Team registration is $60 before July 6 and $75 after.
