Wausau, WI – Nationally known gardening expert, TV/radio host, author & columnist Melinda Myers will present “What’s the Buzz? Learn the Benefits of Creating a Pollinator Garden” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 15 at Monk Botanical Gardens, 1800 North 1st Avenue, Wausau, within the Kitchen Garden area. The seminar is free and open to the public and no registration is required. Complimentary light refreshments will be provided by Hsu Growing Supply.

Myers will share information on how to attract much-needed pollinators to the garden, no matter the size. She’ll also discuss the many benefits of attracting bees, birds and butterflies to the landscape, including the increase in a garden’s productivity.

“With declining populations of honeybees and our native pollinators, it’s more important than ever to find ways we can all help them flourish. Pollinators are essential for a majority of the food we like to eat, including those that provide the greatest nutrition, like fruits, nuts and vegetables. So, all of us should be concerned about their survival,” said Myers. “I’m looking forward to sharing specific tips and techniques for bringing these winged wonders into the landscape and helping them thrive. People will be amazed at how much their ornamental and edible gardens will benefit, not to mention the satisfaction of knowing they’re helping the overall environment.”

Myers will be available to answer attendees’ gardening questions after the seminar and sign books. She’ll have free educational brochures, month-by-month garden calendars, and more to share.
