Join the Marathon County Public Library to hear the works of a published local poet and read your own work at its next Random Moments of Verse poetry night on May 11 from 6-8 p.m. at MCPL’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. Patrons of all ages are invited to paint their own decorative ceramic mugs for Mother’s Day on May 11 from 4-6 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Steve Kasten of Hatley and Bill Kasten started a Motorcycle Swap Meet in 1987. This year will be its 30th year. The Swap Meet is the largest of its kind in Wisconsin. They have a motorcycle auction along with the event that happens on Saturday afternoon. The meet this year will be Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13. The event is always well attended with vendors and spectators from throughout Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota. The event is held at S-K Service in Downtown Hatley. There are refreshments available on the grounds.

The 2017 Wausau Heart Walk will last from 8 a.m.–noon on Saturday, May 13. Check in at 8 a.m,, walk begins at 9 a.m at Dudley Tower, 500 1st St., Wausau. This a new location and a new walking route along the river, one and three-mile routes are available. Everyone is invited: Heart disease and stroke survivors, their families, walk teams and the public. Pets are welcome too. Free admission, open to the public (donations are encouraged). Organist Charles Bonow will present his festival worship service concert, “Here We Stand,” at Our Savior’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St, Wausau, on Sunday, May 21, at 9 a.m. The service concert will consist of a spoken message entwined with organ solos and congregational singing of well-loved hymns of faith. Mr. Bonow’s visit marks the first of a number of Sundays planned to celebrate Our Savior’s 75th Anniversary (1942-2017). Everyone is most cordially invited to attend. A free-will offering for the support of the ministry of Charles Bonow and his family will be received following the service concert.
