Edgar Book Club: “Truck: A Love Story” by Michael Perry. Thurs. 3/9. Join us for our Edgar Branch’s monthly book club! For March, we’ll read and discuss “Truck: A Love Story” by Michael Perry. Author Perry chronicles a year during which he struggled to grow his own food, live peaceably with volatile neighbors, and fix his pickup truck, at a time when he also fell in love and befriended a paraplegic and quadriplegic biker team. Athens Book Club: “My Name is Lucy Barton” by Elizabeth Strout. Thurs. 3/9. Join us for our Athens Branch’s monthly book club! In March, we will be reading “My Name is Lucy Barton” by Elizabeth Strout. Lucy Barton is recovering slowly from what should have been a simple operation. Her mother, to whom she hasn’t spoken for many years, comes to see her. Gentle gossip about people from Lucy’s childhood in Amgash, Illinois, seems to reconnect them, but just below the surface lie the tension and longing that have shaped Lucy’s life, from her escape from her troubled family and her desire to become a writer to her marriage and her love for her two daughters. Marathon City Book Club: “Big Little Lies” by Liane Moriarty. Mon. 3/13. Join us for our monthly book club at MCPL Marathon City! For March,we’ll read and discuss “Big Little Lies” by Liane Moriarty. This book follows three mothers and their potential involvement in a riot at a school trivia night that leaves one parent dead in what appears to be a tragic accident, but which evidence shows might have been premeditated. The book we’ll read and discuss for March is “Wonder” by RJ Palacio. “Wonder” is the story of Auggie Pullman. Born with a terrible facial abnormality, this shy, bright ten-year- old has been home-schooled by his parents in an attempt to protect him from the stares and cruelty of the outside world.
