Join MCPL Wausau for new monthly Sensory Story Time
Join the Marathon County Public Library for a brand-new monthly story time that will be inclusive of children of all abilities! MCPL will begin offering its new Sensory Story Time on January 14 from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at its Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
MCPL’s Sensory Story Time will engage all of the senses through movement, stories, music, and play! Each program will begin with a 30-minute structured story time that will include stories and activities such as flannel board activities, singing interactive songs, stretching with Thera-Bands, blowing bubbles, parachute play, and walking on a tactile balance beam. Following story time, families are welcome to stay and play and socialize.
This inclusive program is designed to meet the needs of children of all abilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, children who simply have difficulty sitting still, and their typically developing peers. The program is best-suited for children ages 3-6, with a parent or caregiver in attendance.
Sensory Story Time will also be held on February 11, March 11, April 8, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 12, September 23, October 21, November 18 and December 16.
This event is free and open to the public, with registration required. For more information or to register, call 715-261-7220 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/?event_id=3103.
