Jon Daniels, Marathon County Motorized Recreation Administrator, announced effective noon on Saturday, Dec. 31, snowmobile trails in Zone 1 (Hatley, Elderon, Pike Lake and Galloway areas) of Marathon County opened to snowmobiles only. Zone 1 trails remain closed to ATVs. Zone 1 includes the Mountain Bay trail east of Cty. J.
Zones 2, 3 & 4 will remain closed until further notice.
Be aware the trail north of Intersection #266 on the Mountain Bay trail will remain closed. Please check the Marathon County website for any more closures.
Ride with care as trail conditions are only fair and stay on the designated trail. Use caution; some fields and wind-swept areas may be rough due to a lack of snow cover.
Remember, 55 mph is the night time speed limit for snowmobiles everywhere in Wisconsin and Marathon County snowmobile trails are always closed to UTVs.
For up-to-date Marathon County trail conditions, please call the 24-hour snow and trail condition hotline at 1-888-575-7669 or check the website at www.co.marathon.wi.us/parks.asp.
