Learn about winter services through United Way’s 2-1-1
Wisconsin is known for its harsh winters, and this season will likely be no different. For weather and related concerns, many community members utilize United Way’s 2-1-1 to find programs to help with or reduce winter heating costs, flu shot locations, or winter clothing drives for adults and children. For example, 2-1-1 has directed many community members each winter season to reach out to Energy Services by calling (715) 842-3111 to find out more information about winter heating assistance for Marathon County residents. Additionally, 2-1-1 can help you find home weatherization programs to reduce overall energy consumption and waste.
For other community needs, like signing up to donate or receive children’s gifts for the holidays, activities for school-age children during winter break, or places to eat a Christmas meal among neighbors and friends, 2-1-1 services can be used to help locate these and related programs. For instance, The Salvation Army serves free hot lunches year-round Monday-Saturday 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m., except holidays, for all on a walk-in basis. Call (715) 845-4272 for details.
