The Active Older Adults group will meet at Mosinee United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. for a potluck lunch and a pre-New Year’s Eve celebration. Talented children’s musical performers Ken Lonnquist, Tom Pease and many others will enact the Yuletide tale of “Old Befana” on Dec. 27 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. Children are invited to celebrate winter with some “cool” science experiments and crafts at the Marathon County Public Library on Dec. 28 from 1-3 p.m. at the Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Kids will have the opportunity to make exploding snow, puffy snow paintings, and other fun and wacky winter crafts and experiments. Children and families are invited to free screenings of Disney/Pixar’s “Finding Dory” on Dec. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 2-4 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. The 2016 film stars Dory, the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, as she searches for her long-lost parents and learns the real meaning of family along the way. Rated PG. Do you have questions for Village of Spencer officials, or just curious about what’s happening in the village? Join the Marathon County Public Library for an informational program to find out what’s new and what’s on the horizon for the village on Jan. 3 from 9-10 a.m. at the Spencer Branch Library, 105 S. Park St., Spencer. Police Chief Shawn Bauer and Village Administrator Paul Hensch will share information about current and future happenings in the village and will also take questions. The Marathon County Public Library will host its monthly LEGO Block Party beginning Jan. 3 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Mosinee Branch Library, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Children of all ages and their families can design and build creative structures using LEGOs at the library. All blocks will be provided. Makerspaces typically feature tools and combines manufacturing with community and education. We’ll offer a different hands-on project every Friday through May 19, with all supplies provided! The Marathon County Genealogical Society will meet on Tuesday, Jan 10, 2017, from 1:30-3 p.m., at the Marathon County Historical Society, 410 McIndoe St., Wausau. The program will be provided by DAR Wisconsin State Regent Judy Mason. Her passion is genealogy and she has assisted with the completion of over 80 DAR applications. The public is always welcome to attend.
