The Wausau Barbershoppers and the River Valley Harmonizers and Guests present their annual Christmas concert, “Songs of the Season,” under the direction of Paul Smith. The concert will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m., at the First English Lutheran Church, 402 N. Third Ave., Wausau. The concert is open to the public and tickets are not required. ‘Tis the season to be crafty at the MCPL! Patrons of all ages can make their own holiday cards at MCPL on Dec. 13 from 1-4 p.m. at the Mosinee Branch Library, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Blank cards will be provided, as well as decorating and card-making supplies. Please note that all ages are welcome, through children should be accompanied by a supervising adult. Escape the cold and join the Marathon County Public Library for a special winter-themed family story time on Dec. 13 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Rothschild Branch Library, 211 N. Everyone is welcome to stop by the Marathon County Public Library to create holiday cards to give to family and friends on Dec. 14 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Marathon City Branch, 515 Washington St., Marathon City. Blank cards and envelopes will be provided, as well as decorating and card-making supplies. Free and open to all ages, though children should be accompanied by an adult. The Metro Club will meet Dec. 14 at noon at the Elks Club, 414 Scott St., Wausau. The program will include holiday music featuring Center Stage. Cost for lunch is $14 all inclusive. Join the Marathon County Health Department for a free class on safe sleep practices for your baby on Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. until noon at the Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Some participants may receive a free Pack ‘n Play if the baby does not have a safe place to sleep. This program is recommended for parents whose baby is due within two months or whose child is under one year old. Registration is required. The Mosinee United Methodist Church will be hosting an ecumenical “Shortest Day/Longest Night” service on Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. This is often known as a “Blue Christmas” service as we realize that the holidays are not always a joyous time, particularly for those who may have lost a loved one in the past year. The Active Older Adults group will meet at Mosinee United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. for a potluck lunch and a pre-New Year’s Eve celebration.
