Woodchucks to host 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game
The Wisconsin Woodchucks have been selected to host the 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game.
The marquee event of the summer baseball collegiate league’s schedule, the 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game is presented by Ascension and will be played at historic Athletic Park on Tuesday, July 18, at 7:05 p.m.
“It’s a testament to our city, our front office and our fans that the Northwoods League has bestowed this honor upon us,” said Woodchucks Owner Mark Macdonald. “We are thrilled to welcome the very best prospects to Wausau, and we look forward to creating more memories for everyone involved next summer.”
In addition to the All-Star Game itself, the two day event will also include a banquet, Home Run Derby and Fan Fest.
The 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game will feature the stars of the South Division against the stars of the North Division. The teams will be selected through a vote by the 20 member teams of the Northwoods League, with ballots being cast by each team’s field staff and media personnel. The event annually attracts sellout crowds to the host ballpark and an average of over 60 MLB scouts.
“We are grateful for the support of Ascension who has once again stepped up to the plate to support the community’s quality of life through our national pastime,” said Woodchucks President and General Manager Ryan Treu.
A detailed schedule for the two days of the All-Star Game festivities will be announced at a later date. Wisconsin Woodchucks season ticket and mini-plan holders will have the first chance to purchase All-Star tickets when they renew their plans for 2017.
“This event represents another chapter in our long standing relationship with the Woodchucks,” said Tom Weaver, Public and Community Relations Manager, Ascension. “We congratulate them for being selected to host this event and look forward to participating in one of the premier events of the region next summer.”
